My Live Access says host computer is offline or cannot communicate. How do I fix this?

For Live Access to work, the computer you have it installed on (usually your host/server computer) must be powered on and have constant Internet connection. We strongly discourage the use of Wi-Fi due to it's instability. If your host is hardwired to the router and the operating system allows, it may continue to function if the computer is logged out or locked.

Her is a guide to setting your computers power settings to maximum performance: Power Settings Instructions

If your computer is powered on, you have Internet connection and KC desktop opens fine, inside Kennel Connection desktop, click on Utilities, Live Access. Inside the Live Access control panel, click on "Restart Live Access"

There is a service called KChost that runs on your machine. This is what serves the data and allows you access from the web. If this file is stopped, you will receive this error. This service is set to start with Windows automatically and stay running at all times however, Windows will not start services if there is too much going on during startup so always try this solution first. Most of the time it will resolve the issue.

After restarting Live Access refresh your browser or to do a hard refresh on your keyboard press CTRL+F5 and the problem should be resolved.

If you have gone through all the above, you can check to see if the KChost service is running. On your host computer press the windows key + S and type in "services.msc" without the quotes and click on the services search result. Click on any service and press the letter K to jump down to the K section and you'll see KChost. Look over to the right under the "status" column and it should say Running. If it does not, try right clicking on KChost and choose start. If it starts successfully, try logging in to Live Access again. If it fails to start, please contact Support@kennelconnection.com

If it is still not connecting after this, you can try a reboot of the computer as that can also restart the service. If that does not help, it could be your anti-virus blocking the service. Please view this article: Adding Anti-virus Exceptions for Live Access & Auto Update
