This article will show you how to update your Live Access files manually with a hotfix from Kennel Connection Support.
WARNING: Only complete these steps if instructed to by a KC support agent. Doing this on your own without being instructed could lead to your services going offline.
To
update Live Access: (This looks like a lot because it's listed in many separate steps, but it's really just pasting new
files into a folder.
Log
out of your Live Access session/s.
Using
the Windows search, search for "services" and open the Windows
services application.
Press
the letter K to jump to the K section and locate the KC Host and KC Service
Monitor services.
Right
click on each of those and choose STOP.
Backing up your existing files:
Open
File Explorer and navigate to C:\KC7\Live Access.
Sorte by
date modified. Hold the control key down and select the following files:
ClientPortal.AzureServiceBus.dll
ClientPortal.Core.dll
ClientPortal.DataModels.dll
ClientPortal.SMSProvider.dll
KCAzureServiceHost.exe
KCBase.dll
KCReports.dll
(These
should all be right under one another if you sorted by modified date.)
With all
those files selected, copy them using CTRL + C or by right clicking on one of
them and choosing Copy.
Navigate
to your desktop, right click and create a new folder. Call it KC Live Access
Backup.
Open the
new folder and paste these files in there. Close folder.
Updating Live Access with new files:
Using the download link provided by your KC support agent, download the file. Save it and extract
the files if it's a compressed zip folder.
Select
and copy all files.
Open
File Explorer and navigate to C:\KC7\Live Access.
Paste
the files you copied in here from the attached file, overwriting the
existing.
Close
File Explorer
Switch
back to the Windows Services application and right click on both KC Host and KC
Service Monitor and choose START.
Live
Access is updated.
Log back
into Live Access.
Disaster Recovery:
If when you go to use Live Access again after completing the above steps, you are not able to login and you get a message about your service being offline, please navigate back to the Windows Services application, locate the KC Host service and make sure it shows as RUNNING. If it does not, please start the service, wait a minute and then log back into Live Access.
If you were able to login but getting errors trying to use the software, you may need to revert your files.
Log out of your Live Access session/s.
Using the Windows search, search for "services" and open the Windows services application.
Press the letter K to jump to the K section and locate the KC Host and KC Service Monitor services.
Right click on each of those and choose STOP.
Navigate back to your desktop and find the backup folder you created called "Live Access Backup".
Open that folder and select all files. Copy them.
Navigate to C:\KC7\Live Access and paste these files, overwriting the ones in there.
Close File Explorer.
Switch back to the Windows Services Application and right click on both KC Host and KC Service Monitor and choose START.
Live Access is now reverted back to its previous state.
Log back into Live Access.
