Do not plug your receipt printer into the computer until after the drivers are installed.
1. If your receipt printer came with an installation disk, insert that now. If it did not, or you cannot locate the disk, please go to http://starmicronics.com/support Choose the correct options from the drop down menus and download the first option for drivers. It will be called "futurePRNT_V6.0 Lite". Be sure to save the file to your computer.
2. Once the download finishes, locate the tsp100_v600_lite.zip file, right click it and choose "Extract All". Once the extraction completes, open the folder and double click on "Autorun.exe".
3. With the Star software open, click "Installation" and then click "I Accept" on the next screen.
4. When the installer opens, click "Next" on all three prompts and then click "Install". Install could take anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. Watch for any other "on-screen" prompts that you may need to click Yes or No on during the installation. Upon completion, click "Finish".
5. Exit out of the Star software by clicking "Exit" in the lower left hand corner. Plug in your USB cable to the printer (if not done already) and other end can now be plugged into the computer. (USB hubs may not allow the device to function properly). Windows should automatically recognize the device and match it to the drivers you just installed. You can verify it is correct by going to the Control Panel and clicking on "Devices & Printers". You should see the Star printer listed under the printer section.
6. Now you need to tell Kennel Connection to use the receipt printer.
Click on File, System Options, Local tab
Place a check mark where it says "Use Receipt Printer" and then choose the Star TSP printer from the drop down list. If it's a thermal printer, choose Thermal. If you want to list all purchase details instead of totals, choose that option. Choose how many copies of the receipt you want to print. Click Apply and OK.
You have successfully installed and configured the Star receipt printer to function with Kennel Connection.
Please be aware that if you have "Prompt for Print Destination" enabled in System Options, Invoice tab, when printing invoices, you will have the option of printing the invoice to the receipt printer or 8.5x11 printer. Both have different formats.
