Scanning keytags to check pets in/out of daycare

Scanning keytags to check pets in/out of daycare

You are able to assign a keytag to a pet and then set Kennel Connection to create the daycare appointment and check the pet in/out when you scan the keytag.

To obtain a barcode scanner, click here.

You must first tell KC there is a scanner attached to the computer.

Click on File, System Options, Local tab.

Check the box for 'Barcode scanner is attached to this computer'.

There are other options available if you would like to enable them.

The next step is configure the barcode scanner to work with KC.  Contact Support to get the configuration sheet emailed.  This is not something we can do for you.  You must print out the email and scan the barcodes to configure it to work with the program.  Support@SoftwareConnectionLLC.com or 1-888-486-4343 x option 2.

After the scanner has been configured, click on File, System Options, Daycare tab.

Check the box for 'Auto-create booking and check pet in'.  This means when you scan the keytag for the pet, KC will create a daycare appointment and check the pet in.

You also need to choose a default daycare type or room.  If a pet doesn't have a default room/type on their card, KC will use the default room/type in System Options.

Please note:  If 'Auto-create' is grayed out and you can't click on it, that means you don't have any Daycare Rooms/Types set up yet.  You must have at least one.  Click on File, Lists, Daycare Rooms/Types.

If you want the pet to be booked in a different one than what you have set in System Options, open the pet card, Daycare tab and select a default room/type.

Now you are ready to assign a keytag to the pet.  Open the pet card, click in the Barcode field and scan the keytag.

To scan the pet on the schedule, your cursor must be flashing in the Scan box.  Remember if you click on something else in the program, you must click back in the Scan box before using the scanner.  Some businesses set up computers to be used solely for scanning pets in/out.

When you scan the keytag again, the pet will be checked out.

You can scan pets in/out of all the modules but there must be an existing appointment for the other modules.  Only daycare will create the appointment when scanning.
