If you have not yet installed Kennel Connection 7, that must be done first.  Click on the appropriate link for instructions: (Your computers will need to have all the latest Windows Updates downloaded and installed prior to installing KC7. Installing Kennel Connection 7 and SQL Server

Installing Kennel Connection 7 without SQL

BACKUP YOUR KENNEL CONNECTION 6 DATABASE BEFORE CONTINUING!  VERIFY THAT YOUR BACKUP FILE IS IN THE LOCATION YOU SAVED IT TO BEFORE CONTINUING!

It is required that you first open and configure Kennel Connection 7 before you can run the upgrade utility.  Attempting to run the upgrade utility without proper configuration will not be possible.

Network users:  If you are operating on a network, you only need to run the upgrade utility on the main computer.  All workstations must exit Kennel Connection 6 and you must install the KC7 program on each of the computers.  You must then configure each workstation to find the new KC7 data folder.  This only if you plan to run the DEMO of KC7 in a networked environment.

If you do decide to run the KC7 demo on your network, once you run the upgrade utility and it completes, you will need to share out the KC7 folder and map network drives from all workstations to the new KC7 folder.  Click on Kennel Connection 7 Networking Guide for directions.

4.  Enter your upgrade code.

If you have purchased KC7 and are NOT demoing the software, you should have received an upgrade code in your email.  Enter that code in the Upgrade Code field.  If you do not have your code and you have purchased KC7, log into the support website.  Click on the Full Installations link on the left and your upgrade code will be displayed on the right.

If you are demoing KC7, type in the word DEMO in the Upgrade Code field.

Once the code has been entered, press the Upgrade Kennel Connection button.

Depending on the database size and the speed of your machine, this upgrade coud take a few minutes or a few hours to run.  Be patient and allow the utility to run. (It may show as not responding during the upgrade. It is still upgrading. Please let it continue.)

DEMO USERS:  If you decide you want to go live with KC7 and have only been entering data into the KC7 program, you can simply register KC7 by clicking on Help, Register.  Contact Sales if you do not have the registration code after purchasing KC7.  Sales@KennelConnection.net or 1-888-486-4343 x501.

If you decide to go live with KC7 but you still have been entering data into KC6, you will need to do the upgrade again.  Contact Sales to obtain an overwrite code that will allow you to upgrade again.

IMPORTANT:  If you upgrade again, any data entered into KC7 will be overwritten and replaced with the KC6 data.

Users who attach pictures, documents or have clients sign the signature pad:  These files are saved to the Pix, KCDocs, and Receipts folders in the C:\KC6 folder.  The upgrade utility does not move these folders over.  It must be done manually.  Copy and paste these folders into the KC7 folder.  Click YES to replace the existing folders.

VERY IMPORTANT:  If you created a desktop shortcut for the Kennel Connection 6 Backup/Restore Utility, it will not work for Kennel Connection 7.  Remove the shortcut and any of KC6 shortcuts from your desktop and taskbars to avoid any confusion.  If you use an unsupported automatic backup for Kennel Connection 6, that must be updated to Kennel Connection 7.  You or your technician will need to adjust the automatic backup.  Remember to backup your database regularly.  Click here for instructions.
