A new feature of Windows 10 is allowing Windows to control which printer is set as your default. With this new feature, Windows will set whichever printer was last printed to as the "Default". While this can be a good option in some cases, it is not when you use multiple printers. You may notice this issue if printing a pet detect collar to the pet detect printer or a receipt to the receipt printer. All of a sudden, your pet detect printer or receipt printer is setup as the Windows default printer. This will cause issues when trying to print regular documents from KC or any other software. The steps below will help you change this option in Windows.
Click the Windows Start button and choose the "Settings" (gear icon) from the bottom left or search for "settings" if icon is not shown.
Select Devices.
Make sure "Printers & Scanners" is selected on the left and look for "Let Windows manage my default printer" option. Switch it to OFF. Then close the screen.
If you haven't already, go back into Devices & Printers and make sure your 8.5x11 printer is set as the default by right clicking it and choosing "Set as default". Moving forward, Windows will not switch your default printer to the last one used.
Please note: If you have switched this option to Off, but it keeps turning back on, this is an issue with Windows itself and you will need a local technician to assist.
