How to Obtain Your Public IP Address From a Phone or Tablet on Cellular Networks

There may come a time where you may need to know a devices public IP address to add it to your white list of allowed IPs’ that can connect to your Live Access service. If you have any devices that run on 4G or 5G and NOT on a Wi-Fi network, those devices will have their own public IP address and you’ll need to add them to the white list. Here’s how to obtain the public IP address from a 4G or 5G device NOT CONNECTED to Wi-Fi.

  1. Turn off the WI-FI on your device to make sure you’re on the cellular network. Refer to device manual if unsure of how to disable Wi-Fi.
  2. Now on your cellular network, open your web browser and navigate to https://www.whatismyip.com.
  3. Once the page loads it will show you your public IP address. In most cases you’ll have an IPv4 address but if yours shows IPv6 only, you can use that one.

4. Contact your Live Access admin and ask them to add your IP address to the white list inside the Live Access admin settings so you’ll be able to connect when not on a Wi-Fi network.
