Gift cards and Gift certificates**

You can issue and redeem gift cards and gift certificates, which can be used like cash to pay for an open invoice.  You can create both without taking payment so it's a good option if you want to put a credit on a client's account, or if you're having an open house and giving away gift cards/certificates.


Gift Cards - you are not able to swipe the card through the program to use or reload so you can get any brand you want.


Gift Certificates - Kennel Connection comes with its own template to print the certificate but you can design your own.



To setup Gift Cards:

Click on Accounting, Gift Cards.



Click Add.



You can use the barcode from the gift card or type in a name/number.




Hit Payment to pay and OK when done.






To redeem Gift Cards:


On the Invoice screen, click Redeem Gift Card.



Enter the gift card number or name you used. Hit OK and this will show as a line item on the invoice.







You can redeem the entire amount or choose a certain amount to redeem.  In this case, I only want to use $25 of the $50 on the gift card.




You can run a Sales report to see how much revenue in Gift Cards you did.  First, click on File, Inventory and make sure Gift Card is set to the correct Category of GIFTCARDS.





Next, run Reports, Revenue, Sales report.  You can run it for all Categories or just GIFTCARDS.  You can run for just a specific client or all clients. 







Accounting, Gift Cards will show the remaining balance (credit) left on the card.





To setup Gift Certificates:


Accounting > Gift Certificates.



Click Add.



Type the date the gift certificate.


Type in the amount.


Add the To and From information.


You can also add an additional message.




Hit Payment to take payment.



Choose payment method.

If the business is offering this at no charge to the customer, leave it paid as cash.



You will get a prompt about printing the certificate.  Below is the template from KC but you can create your own.  




This is how it will appear if you go back to look at it later.



To redeem Gift Certificates:


On the receipt screen, click Redeem Gift Certificate.





Double click on the certificate you want to use.  Hit OK to the prompt.





The certificate will show in the Receipt information section and this certificate is now attached to this client record.  You can use the certificate whenever you'd like.  Just click the Pay box for the Invoice and the Pay box for the certificate when ready.





Any credit left over will show on the client's card, Financial tab.  In this example, there is still $45 left on the certificate.
