Some users may notice that the export button does not do anything. This is common when Kennel Connection is installed on a server or when KC is run through a remote desktop/terminal service environment but can also happen in regular workstation setups as well. Below are the instructions to fix the export button and/or allow the export button to show the different file types to export to.
1. Download the Crystal folder and save it to your desktop or wherever your downloads save to: https://workdrive.zohoexternal.com/external/bdd93967a3745f08b64c1a0946747fc991ff697288ffeb74b2bd77534ad78223
2. Right click on the zipped Crystal folder and Extract all files.
3. Open the extracted Crystal folder and select all 63 files (Ctrl + A) to Select All.
4. Right click on one of them and choose "Copy".
5. Navigate to File Explorer" for Windows and open your C:\ drive or local disk C. Inside the C drive, locate the "Windows" folder and open it. Locate the "Crystal" folder and open it. C:\Windows\Crystal is the file path.
6. Once inside the Crystal folder, right click on any blank space and choose "Paste". Overwrite any files that already exist.
You have now added all necessary files to the Crystal folder. You must now register two of these files with the Windows operating system.
7. First, determine which version of Windows you have: 32 or 64 bit.
Windows 7: Click Start, right click on Computer, click Properties and it will show the bit inside.
Windows 8/10: Press the Windows key + S to bring up the search feature or click the search icon on your task bar. Type in "Computer" without the quotes. Once Computer shows in the search results, right click it and choose "Properties" and the bit version will show inside.
8. Open the command prompt as administrator.
Windows 7: Click Start, Accessories, right click on Command prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Windows 8/10: Press the Windows key + S to bring up the search feature or click the search icon on your taskbar. Type in "cmd" without the quotes. Once the command prompt shows in results, right click on it and choose "Run as administrator".
9. For 32 bit machines only
You must register two files. In the command prompt window, type the following:
In the same command prompt, type in the following:
Here is an example of how this will show with the successful message.
10. For 64 bit machines only.
You must register two files. In the command prompt window, type the following:
In the same command prompt window, type the following:
Here is an example of how this will show with the successful message.
Once you have completed the above steps and successful messages were received while registering the files, you can now open Kennel Connection and you will be able to export to many different file types.
This will also fix any issue of the export button not showing any options at all.
Please note: If you are running a remote desktop/terminal server environment, you will need to place this Crystal folder in each users Windows folder. You may or may not have to register these two files individually for each remote user. Kennel Connection support cannot assist with Terminal Server environments.
