One of most important parts of your computer program is its antivirus program. Not having one leaves you vulnerable to viruses, which can wreck your software and steal information like bank accounts, passwords, login IDs, and so on. However, unless exclusions are put into place, your antivirus program can cause multiple problems with Kennel Connection and other software.
Some issues are:
Numerous database errors, including "Table cannot be found", lost connectivity to the database from a workstation, and more.
Credit cards stopped processing or you're getting an hourglass when attempting to submit a transaction or batch.
Online reservations stopped working or you're getting a message that the Login ID and password are incorrect. You have verified they are.
You're not able to send emails through Kennel Connection
Overall latency when using Kennel Connection from workstations
Network workstations that will not connect or lose connection.
You must exclude Kennel Connection from your antivirus and firewall programs. This is the responsibility of your or your technician. Please note that if you have more than antivirus or firewall program, you will need to set exclusions in all of them.
To add Kennel Connection 7 to your antivirus or firewall exclusions, the files to be added can be found in the C:\KC7 folder. The files are
KC7.exe
You may also add the entire folder if that is an option. The folder is called KC7. We recommend adding each individual file and also the folder.
In order to successfully send emails with attachments, you must disable your antivirus from scanning outbound emails.
Below are links for several antivirus programs and how to add exclusions. if your antivirus program is not listed, you must contact the program vendor for steps on how to add exclusions. You can also search for "adding exceptions for (antivirus program name)".

Since Kennel Connection 7 only uses a SQL database, firewall exclusions must be added for the SQL service as well. These only need to be added to your main/server computer. Click on Adding SQL Server Exceptions to Windows Firewall for directions
