This error means that the permissions are incorrect and the Windows user is not allowed to access the database due to SQL security restrictions. This is an SQL server issue and it is possible that it needs updating.
Please note: We only support Kennel Connection. SQL Server is not our product and we do not support it.
1 - Run the backup utility as administrator. To do this, go to the C drive and double click on the KC7 folder. Find brutil7.exe, right click on it and choose "Run as administrator". If you are then able to backup, then you have a Windows user account permissions issue.
2 - If step 1 does not work, the next step is to reboot the server and try again. Make sure KC is closed on all computers before you reboot the server.
3 - If step 2 does not work, close KC on all computers and go to your server/main computer.
On the C drive, double click on the KC7 folder.
Double click on wkennel.ini file. If you do not see the .ini extension, hold your mouse over each wkennel file. You are looking for the Configuration Settings file.
Scroll to the bottom to where the SQL parameters are.
Find where it says Trusted=Yes or Trusted=No.
If it says Yes, change it to Trusted=No.
Click File, Save, close this screen and try to backup again.
If it is already on Trusted=No, do not make any changes.
4 - If step 3 does not work, check for and complete all Windows updates both important and optional. This will include any updates for SQL server. Once all updates are completed, try to backup again.
If none of these steps fix the issue, you will need to bring in a technician familiar with SQL server to see what the issue is.
