Error 339, component OCX not correctly registered

The antivirus program or another process on your machine has blocked the installation of the .OCX or .DLL file


Please note:  The User Account Controls must be disabled for Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 machines.  Click the correct link:

In this example, BCSCCADO.OCX was used.  Replace that with the name of the .OCX or .DLL file that is showing on your error message and proceed with the following directions. 


1.  Determine your version of Windows:


Windows XP, Vista & 7:  Click Start, right click on Comptuer, click Properties.


Windows 8:  Move your mouse to the upper right hand corner of the screen to bring up the menu bar.  Choose "search", type in "computer" (without the quotations).  Right mouse click on "computer" over to the left and at the bottom choose "properties".


Note the system type:  32 or 64-bit system.  Windows XP is 32 bit.


2.  On the computer that is experiencing the 339 error, you will need to open the command prompt.


>Windows XP:  Click Start, Run, type in CMD.  Click OK.


>Windows Vista/7:  Click Start, Accessories, right mouse click on Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".


>Windows 8:  Move your mouse to the upper right hand corner of the screen to bring up the menu bar.  Choose "search".  Type in "command" (without the quotations).  Right click on "command prompt" over to the left.  At the bottom of the screen, click on "Run as administrator".


For 32 bit machines only.  Scroll down for 64 bit machines.

  • In the command prompt window, type the following:  Regsvr32 bcsccado.ocx
  • Press enter. 

Please note:  bcsccado.ocx is used an example.  Populate that file name with the one giving you the error.

If successful, you will get an error similiar to this:

Click OK, close out of the command prompt and open Kennel Connection.


For 64 bit machines only

  • In the command prompt window, type the following:  Regsvr32 C:\windows\syswow64\bcsccado.ocx
  • Then press enter. 

Please note:  bcsccado.ocx is used as an example.  Populate that file name with the one giving you the error.

If successful, you will get the 'succeeded' message shown above.


Click OK, close out of the command prompt, and open Kennel Connection.
