If you're using Google's G Suite/Workspace for your email and want to use that account inside Kennel Connection or some other third party software, you'll need to alter some security settings inside G Suite. Please see the below.
**Note that sometimes after you enable these settings, it can take up to 24 hours before these settings go into effect.
Warning: 2-Step Verification CANNOT be enabled for Kennel Connection to send emails. Click here to learn how to disable 2-Step Verification: Disabling 2-Step Verification in G Suite
Part 1. Admin Settings:
First you must login to your G Suite admin portal to enable the "Allow Less Secure Apps" option. Open a web browser and navigate to https://admin.google.com
Login with your G Suite admin ID and password. This is an email address and password and usually the one you used to signup for G Suite.
Once inside, click on the hamburger menu in the upper left.
Move your mouse over SECURITY and then choose SETTINGS.
Click on the "Less Secure Apps" section.
Set it to "Allow users to manage their access to less secure apps" and click save.
You may now close the G Suite admin portal.
Part 2. Gmail Inbox Settings:
Now you must login to your G Suite email inbox. Once logged in, click the G Suite button in the upper right hand corner and choose "Manage your Google Account"
Once inside the account settings, click on the security option on the left hand side:
Make sure 2-Step Verification is turned OFF. If it shows as on, please see this article: Disabling 2-Step Verification in G Suite
Look for the section that says "Allow Less Secure Apps" (This will NOT show if you have 2-factor authentication enabled) and click it. It will most likely show as OFF. You must turn on access.
Changes will save automatically.
Now, you can go back to Kennel Connection desktop and into File, Business Info, Email and click the test email settings button. Most common settings for Gmail/G Suite are:
Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com
Type: Login
Username: Full G Suite Email address.
PW: Your email inbox password.
Port: 587
Security: TLS.
If you click the test email settings button and you get a successful message, you are now able to use KC to send emails.
If you still get an error, you may have to wait up to 24 hours for the changes you just made in G Suite to propagate. If after 24 hours it's still not working, please see this article as you'll need to run through these steps: Error Gmail Still Blocking Account Access After Enabling Less Secure Apps
