Adding programs to the startup menu of Windows

Adding programs to startup menu of Windows

For features like the Smartphone app (discontinued, please see new mobile option.) and the Timeclock to work, you must add BCSLive and timeclock.exe to the startup menu so they start with Windows.

For Windows 8 and 10, do the following:

  • Click on the “file explorer” icon on the system tray. (Manila folder).
  • Choose "Computer" or "This PC" from the left hand side.
  • In computer, locate the C: drive and open it.
  • Locate the KC6 folder for Kennel Connection 6 OR Locate the KC7 folder for Kennel Connection 7.
  • In the KC6 or KC7 folder, locate the BCS Live icon (for smartphone app) or the timeclock.exe (for timeclock module)
  • Click it once so it’s highlighted, then right click it and choose "send to" > Desktop Shortcut.
  • Close the "computer" window.
  • Use the Windows + R hotkey combo. (Windows key + the letter R) This will open your "run" screen.
  • In the run field type in: shell:startup and press Enter.  This will bring you directly to your Windows Startup folder.

  • Drop the shortcut that you sent to your desktop into this Startup folder.

You have just added the file to your Startup folder and it should now start when Windows starts.

Windows 7 users, click Start, Computer and use same instructions as above.
